Quality Life Homes was founded in 1991 with
the goal of providing warm and comfortable homes for seniors
in their twilight years. Its founder, Tom Sather, is a former
United States Marine Corps helicopter pilot who served his
country in support of combat operations in Cambodia and Vietnam
in the early 70’s. After his military service, Tom
entered the business world. In 1980, he co-founded one of

and mortgage companies, which he ran
successfully for nearly a decade.
In 1991, Tom turned his attention to the elderly residential
care business. The percentage of senior-aged Americans was
growing rapidly and the demand for residential care facilities
was high, yet the supply was not there. “It was a poorly
served industry with few options for
high-quality care,” says Tom. “For
the most part, there were just small
operators who took a few people
into
their own homes.” Having
identified a deficiency
in the industry,
Tom went to work solving the
problem. He sold his real estate |

company and turned his many years
of business and
management experience toward elderly
residential care.
Tom implemented a fresh approach from the ground up. He
started by choosing the lovely community of Laguna Niguel
as
the setting for Quality Life Homes. Situated just
above the
Dana Point Harbor and conveniently located
in south Orange County,
Laguna Niguel is noted for its safety and serenity.
Beautiful, single-story homes overlooking the El Niguel
Golf Course were selected for the residences and all

located within a two-block radius. This
clustering of the homes in one upscale neighborhood
results in a hands-on management style for Tom, and
more visiting opportunities for residents living
near each other!
Each Quality Life Home has a cozy den that overlooks
the
wide expanse of golf course and serves as a daily gathering spot for residents.
All of the homes are tastefully decorated with comfortable, clean furniture and
are fully appointed. Three home-cooked meals are served daily by attentive and
friendly staff that provides high standards of personal care and a unique home-like
atmosphere for residents. Each home has two full-time caregivers who are highly
trained in their field. |
